Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- Mughal-e-Azam, K. Asif's masterpiece that narrated the love story of Prince Salim and courtesan Anarkali, was released on August 5, 1960. It's said that for the premiere of the film, held at Maratha Mandir talkies, the reels were carried on elephant backs to the theatre.
